Crossing the Atlantic together

On 14 August 2008, British Airways, Iberia and American Airlines - joined by Finnair in 2013 and Aer Lingus in 2020 - entered a revenue sharing alliance relating to flights between European and North American destinations.

The alliance significantly improves customer convenience and choice while bringing greater value for consumers. It generates operating efficiencies, increases competition in many city-pairs and generates economic benefits for communities across the worldwide networks of the four airlines.

This alliance allows:

  • the carriers to participate in revenue sharing
  • coordinated marketing, advertising, sales and distribution of passenger and cargo services
  • a cooperative approach to scheduling, pricing, capacity and frequent flyer programs.
